Jesus- Fully God & Fully Man

In his book Salvation Belongs to the Lord, theologian John Frame points out how incredible it is that Jesus's disciples came to believe that he was God. They were all Jews who had been raised to believe that there is one God and only God should be worshiped. They were not primed to look for God in the form of a man. The idea was preposterous. "Somehow," Frame writes, "during the next 3 years or so, all these Jewish disciples, and many more people besides, are convinced that Jesus is God and deserves to be worshiped as God. They have known him intimately as a man, have walked and talked and eaten with him; yet, they have come to worship him. That is quite an amazing thing."

The Na+,K+-ATPase Pump

How do you remember the function of the Na+,K+-ATPase pump?

Remember it this way:

3 Na+, out. ('out' has 3 letters)
2 K+, in. ('in' has 2 letters)

If that isn't feasible for you.. Remember when a cell experiences anoxia, cellular swelling can occur as a result of necrosis? Cellular swelling here occurs due to the accumulation of Na+ (& subsequently, water as well) in the cell.

This is simply explained as follows: anoxia leads to the lack of intracellular ATP, therefore failure of the Na+,K+-ATPase pump, therefore Na+ accumulates. (this shows that in normal states, Na+ is supposed to be pumped? OUT!)

Existential Crisis?

Acts 17:24-25 The God who made the world & all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven & earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; not is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life & breath & all things.

Existential crisis is not fun. I get it once in a while, when things get boring & tiring. Routines, day by day, week by week..

So much to learn, but the more we learn, the more we realise how little we know. Currently reading Dug Down Deep by Joshua Harris!

What is doctrine? Machen said: "The narration of the facts is history; the narration of the facts with the meaning of the facts is doctrine." Doctrine can never take the place of Jesus Himself, but we can't know Him & relate to Him in the right way without doctrine. Why is it so important to us?

The doctrine of God, or theology proper, is a crucial part of our lives, because what we think about God- what we understand about His character & His attributes- shapes our understanding of every other doctrine & life itself. There's truly nothing more important than rightly knowing God & thinking true thoughts about Him. While we can't know God exhaustively, we can know Him truly.

What makes it difficult for us to see the truth about God, isn't His overwhelming immensity, but our overwhelming self-centredness. Looking past ourselves is A LOT harder to do than most of us realise. & that has resulted in the most dangerous issue- most people today imagine God as they'd like Him to be.

If you took 10 minutes to write down what you knew about God- His attributes, His likings, His laws, what would you write?
